GloriaFood Is Closing: Best Alternatives for Restaurants Before April 2027

GloriaFood is shutting down

GloriaFood closes on 30 April 2027. It's the free online ordering platform thousands of independent restaurants and takeaways have been using, and after that date it stops processing orders. If your online orders run through GloriaFood, you need to be on something else before then.

There's no grace period. The orders just stop.

What you're replacing

GloriaFood did a short list of things:

  • an online ordering page
  • menu management
  • order notifications by email, in the browser and through its mobile app
  • a widget you could drop into your existing website

That was it. No branded app, no loyalty scheme, no POS, no marketing tools, very little reporting. People used it because it was free and quick to set up.

You have to move anyway, so you may as well move to something that does more.

The best GloriaFood alternatives

1. Flipdish

Flipdish is the best fit if you want more than an ordering widget. You get a branded restaurant website, mobile app, self-service kiosks and a POS system on one platform, built for restaurants, takeaways, cafés and multi-site groups in the UK and Ireland.

It also has the loyalty and marketing tools GloriaFood never had. You own your customer data - email addresses, order history - and AI marketing automation uses it to bring customers back for repeat orders. For most restaurants leaving GloriaFood, it's the obvious next step.

2. Slerp

Slerp is built for food businesses selling direct. It handles online ordering for delivery and collection and connects to a range of POS systems. Good if you want a clean checkout and don't need your own POS or a branded app.

3. Square Online

Square gives you a basic online ordering page as part of its wider payments setup. If you already use Square to take card payments in person, it's easy to switch on. It's missing the restaurant-specific stuff, though - kitchen display integration, staff management, delivery radius controls - and a growing restaurant will hit those gaps fast.

4. Lightspeed Restaurant

Lightspeed is a POS first, with online ordering added on. It suits sit-down restaurants where table management and reservations matter most. It isn't built for heavy takeaway and delivery volume.

5. Deliverect

Deliverect pulls orders from the delivery marketplaces into one feed for your POS. It's middleware, not a direct ordering system. It can sit alongside whatever replaces GloriaFood, but it doesn't replace GloriaFood itself.

How to move off GloriaFood

  1. Export your menu and customer data now. Don't wait for the shutdown date.
  2. Try at least two alternatives against your real order volume and what you actually need
  3. Run the new platform alongside GloriaFood for four to eight weeks
  4. Tell customers where to order now - signs in the shop, social media, a flyer in the bag
  5. Take the GloriaFood links off your website once the new system is live and tested

Don't leave it until spring

Migrations always take longer than planned. Wait until early 2027 and you'll be queuing for setup help with every other GloriaFood restaurant facing the same deadline.

Moving now gives you months to get your regulars ordering through the new channel before GloriaFood switches off.

Flipdish has a dedicated onboarding process for restaurants coming off GloriaFood, and you end up with a direct ordering setup that does a lot more than GloriaFood ever did.
